The rooms have a rustic charm and while everything isn’t brand new, it all works and no-one will care if you wear your waders in the room! Mike, the owner, can arrange for excellent guides for fishing or bird hunting (book well in advance for peak seasons) and will give advice to people who want to hunt and fish on their own.

The price is reasonable, the rooms are clean with comfortable beds, fridge, microwave and coffee maker, the showers are hot with plenty of decent towels and there is even free Wi-Fi in short everything you need when you are fishing, hunting or snowmobiling in Lake County. I’ve stayed at Batcke’s many times (as have many people I know) and it compares very favorably to other places I’ve stayed at in Michigan and across the US on fishing trips. They have cabins near the river and great accommodations.… We moved a few miles to Red Moose Lodge, where they put us up in a cabin And took care of us. Do yourself a favor and do not deal with Baldwin Creek Lodge or any cabins he's associated with. We got out of there and was glad to see the police come and watch over the crazy owner. It got so bad that we had to call the police because we were in fear the he was going to do more then just yelling and screaming. Well this upset him so much that he became outraged and began yelling swearing and demanding us to pack our stuff up immediately leave the property. So we advised the owner we wanted to cancel guide trip because it wasn't going to work. After we all discussed this We decided this it wasn't going to work if only 2 could go with the guide. So the owner came over and was upset because we wanted to take 3 fisherman, his guide said that he refused to take 3 and would only take 2.
We were quoted $425 for 2 and $100 more for an additional fisherman. His staff originally booked our fishing trip for 2 to 3 people and a guide.
After unpacking and getting settling in to the cabin that we rented the owner came to visit with us to discuss the next day fishing trip we booked through him. It was planned for months and we had the most terrible experience ever. I had family come in from multiple states to meet up and have a family / fishing experience. The host/owner was very rude and out of control. What a Terrible experience, Run from this place.
